4.0 out of 5 stars Choose your size wisely!, December 18, 2011

OK it looks to me like plenty of reviews on here but after reading the negative ones I had to add my two cents.

First of all you still have 4 different sizes to choose from so don't think you are getting a "set" of "nesting" pots. You will be receiving a single pot of your choice. You have 775 and 475 ml and the 1.1 and 1.6 liter. In case you are wondering... 775 ml = 31/40 of a liter. 475 ml = 19/40 of a liter. Both of these pots are obviously smaller than the 1.1 or 1.6. You fill them with gear, lock them down and then stow them away. Hence the name "stowaway" pots.

I own the 1.1 and use it mainly for solo back-country adventures. It will comfortably fit a single pack of Ramen noodles or a single can of condensed soup to give you an idea of size. Another reviewer mentions it will hold two packs of noodles. They are either golf ball size packs of noodles or he is reviewing the 1.6 pot.

Stainless steel so it will burn food easily if you don't monitor... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT! ... and here's a trick: use the lid as a pan!, June 6, 2011

I bought the alpine stowaway in an attempt to get one just like the one a buddy had brought on our 27 day trip through the Superior Trail... His was actually the "alpine stowaway 2" which comes with another pot and a lid that can be used as a pan.... the pot lid as pan feature was what I was really interested in so I picked up the alpine stowaway and an aluminum handle similar to "msr panhandler" (you can find generic versions at some sporting good stores)...figuring that I could use the aluminum handle to use the lid as a pan. I'll admit I was kinda skeptical of whether or not it would actually work as the lid is convex and prone to rolling around. The first morning I used it I whipped up a (backpackers)feast for 4 people, which included fresh biscuits, fresh eggs, and canned Spam. I used the pot to cook the eggs and the pan was used to cook the biscuits and spam (cook the spam and then use the grease to cook the biscuits - needles to say... not good for you.)

I generally... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars 1.6 L is MASSIVE. Do.Not.Get. you probably want the 775 mL, December 31, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
I ordered the 1.6L first and it is MASSIVE! It is the size of a skillet and you could easily cook for 4-5 people in that thing, maybe even take a bath, it is soooo huge. I had to return it, turns out the 775 is really what you want. It is the perfect size for one person, or more specifically your Bug Out Bag.
