For such a small, light stake, I don't think I have ever seen stakes perform as well! I am used to the impossibly heavy metal stakes whose quality was likely based solely on their weight rather than design or performance. I was actually quite dubious that these would be able to handle the typically windy weather that we experience when we camp, but we were both pleasantly surprised at how well they handled the elements. I just bought these to replace the standard "hook style, bend the very first time you use them" stock tent stakes that came with my tent. I am totally impressed. Not only are they lighter than the stock stakes, but they are super strong, I beat them into the ground with a rock and they did not bend at all, not even the top part where I was hitting them. If they hit a rock they still didn't bend. One side of the tent was on ground so soft I pushed the stake in with my hand, but it held the ground firmly and didn't pull out during the night. In the morning I grabbed the string and pulled them all out by hand with no additional tools neccesary. You hardcore backpackers may think I'm easily impressed, but from someone who has never used anything other than the stock tent stakes and who never even knew there were alternatives out there until a few months ago, I have to say, I LOVE THESE STAKES!!UPDATE: I have now used these 5 times.
