5.0 out of 5 stars Kicked the Buckets' Butts, March 21, 2011

I just got my Mora #2... love it. Razor sharp, strong handle, case is plastic, but very serviceable. I used it to cut the bottoms out of two large plastic buckets (making bongo drums...). I wouldn't have gotten the same result from my Gerber, there's no way. It was really thick plastic with little knobby notches that I had to really bear down on to penetrate. My Gerber gets dull if the wind blows on it too hard, and is really difficult to sharpen. The Mora knife sliced through them like butter... the blade was actually warm to the touch from the friction of cutting these things, but lo and behold - and true to every other review I've read on this knife - it was still sharp enough to slice ribbons off a sheet of receipt paper... just as sharp as when I first unsheathed it. Wow. That's a blade. I'll never buy another brand of knife. Swedish steel... nothing like it.
UPDATE... THREE MONTH'S LATER
I finally got around to sharpening my Mora knife. The knife is not at all... Read more

How can I describe the Mora #2... Unexpected, understated, inexpensive...elegantly minimalist even. It turned everything I thought I knew about what made a great knife and turned it on its ear. It made me turn a critical eye on all of the less effective knives I spent so much more money on before I found it. The scandi grind and quality of the blade steel make it durable, tough and so easy to sharpen that anyone could do it. The profile, length, balance, grind depth and simplistic handle make it perfect for nearly every cutting chore and grip style that you could possibly use. The #2 Classic was also my introduction to scandi-style knives and though I now own nearly a dozen from various brands (Helle, Kellam, Ahti, Roselli, etc), the #2 still manages to win out when I reach for a blade to do some actual work. It even beats out the laminated version of itself that I bought for three times as much! Think maybe it's called "classic" for a reason... In any case, it cuts, deeply, every... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Love Love this knife, June 3, 2011

I have bear paws for hands and this knife feels like an extension of my body. Its light, strong and holds an edge like a dream. I have spent the past month using this knife for basic bushcrafting. Making walking sticks, tent pegs, feather sticks, splitting small to medium (5in wide) timber for fires. I am even half way done carving a hatchet handle using oak. The blade is still at about 80% sharp.

The spine on this blade also has the ability to create a ton of accurate sparks from a fire steel.

If you have large hands or need a knife you can use for hours at a time this is the knife I recommend.
